Watch out Star-Lord! Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 might play host to a certain Asgardian demigod...

Director James Gunn shocked fans with photo of Thor's hammer on Friday, and the snap have Marvelites wondering if Chris Hemsworth's character is destined to meet up with Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) and Co.

I'm starting to think this has nothing to being worthy.

So, what's the actual take away from this photo? Did Gunn just happen across Mjölnir at Pinewood's Atlanta studios, or is the Norseman headed for outer space?

Thor diehards will quickly point out that neither Thor nor Thor: The Dark World were filmed in the Peach State, so what would an old prop be doing anywhere near the current set of Guardians? Well, Avengers: Age of Ultron DID, in fact, utilize Pinewood's southern locale, which means an iteration of Thor's signature weapon could easily still be stored at the lot or given as a gift to someone who works at the studio.

That begin said, Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 would be prime real estate for a Ragnarok sting, if not a full on cameo. Thor and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) will leave Earth far behind in the 2017 film, although it is unknown if their inter-realm travels will throw them into the far reaches of space.

"There are only a couple of scenes on Earth in this movie," Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige told Empire: Film. "80 to 90 percent takes place in the cosmos."

What do you think? Is Thor destined for a Guardians post-credit scene? Sound off in the poll below!

Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 will hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
