Calvin Harris seems to be in decent spirits following his split from Taylor Swift.

On Friday, E! News posted a photo of the music producer who was in a recent car accident as he was leaving a medical facility and getting into his car. And in one random shot, he flashed a smile, giving the impression that he's doing what he can to remain positive about his life.

There has been a lot of skepticism on why it didn't work out for Harris and the pop-country superstar. In a Twitter post from Harris, he explained the rumors with a small statement, adding that he and Swift still have "love and respect" for each other.

Apparently, Harris-- whose real name is Adam Wiles-- and Swift were "two different people," says an insider.

"Taylor wanted more attention than Adam gave," the source added. "Adam did care very deeply for her but the breakup was bound to happen."

And while there were rumors about of tying the knot someday, the insider revealed that "marriage or engagement was not talked about."

Another source said these two "were just not very compatible in different areas in their relationship" and were likely better off as "friends before lovers."

According to a report from Hollywood Life, one particular factor that could've played into the break-up was Swift's little dance she had with actor Tom Hiddleston at the Met Gala last month.

"One thing Calvin wasn't happy about was that video that came out of her dancing with Tom at the Met Ball," a source said. "What guy wants to see a video of his girl getting that close to a guy like Tom?"
