Brandi Redmond's husband, Bryan, may not have enjoyed his time on reality television quite as much as his wife, who recently wrapped production on the first season of The Real Housewives of Dallas. However, according to Brandi, they've learned a lot from the experience.

During a new interview, Brandi said she and Bryan "really communicate more" after overcoming a tough season, which included Bryan proclaiming he was "done" during a dinner date.

"It's extremely difficult," Brandi told PEOPLE Magazine on Monday. "It's hard on him. I mean, we've been out to eat and people literally come up and call him an a--hole! In front of our little girls! He's been struggling with it but we know at the end of the day that it's the way he handled something and he agrees that it was wrong. I think as long as we are willing to forgive and try to forget after this is all over with, then we can just move forward."

"I really don't rock the boat that much with Bryan, just because I know how hard he works, and I do know how much he loves us and cares about us," she continued. "He is an amazing father. He is an amazing provider. He is the kind of man who would do anything for anyone. I think that's what the viewers don't get to see – they don't get to see that side of him, that side that makes me laugh. He really is so kind and so genuine and we all make mistakes, we all go through things, and I think if anything this taught us more about each other."

Although Brandi and Bryan went through hard times during season one, they made it through and she's happy to have shared their journey with viewers.

"I'm proud of what was captured in our journey. I think that it made us authentic, and I think it's encouraging for other people to see that not everybody's perfect and we all have ups and downs," she said. "And at the end of the day, I'm such a fighter – I'll fight for my family, my marriage and my friendships."
