Leah Messer recently took to Facebook to applaud Kristen Bell for going public with her struggles with anxiety and depression.

Just over one year after the Teen Mom 2 star entered a 30-day treatment program, she thanked Bell for speaking out about her own struggles with mental illness.

"Thank you @kristenanniebell for speaking out on anxiety and depression and how SERIOUS of an affect it can have on your entire life!" Messer wrote on Facebook last week. "You are an inspiration to me and so many others."

"I know first hand how tough it can be to speak out about your personal experience with depression and anxiety but agree that we must use our voices to bring awareness to these very real issues and work to de-stigmatize mental health issues in general," Messer continued. "Thank you for sharing your story. It makes me feel less alone in my decision to be open with my own journey to wellness."

Messer entered a rehab program in May of last year after facing rumors of drug use for months. Messer also claimed to struggle with narcolepsy around the time after she was seen on Teen Mom 2 seemingly nodding out while holding her brother's infant daughter.

Bell first opened up about her struggles at the end of last month with a personal blog to fans.

“I felt plagued with a negative attitude and a sense that I was permanently in the shade,” Bell wrote in an essay for Motto, via Us Weekly. “I’m normally such a bubbly, positive person, and all of a sudden I stopped feeling like myself. There was no logical reason for me to feel this way. I was at New York University, I was paying my bills on time, I had friends and ambition — but for some reason, there was something intangible dragging me down.”

“I didn’t speak publicly about my struggles with mental health for the first 15 years of my career. But now I’m at a point where I don’t believe anything should be taboo,” Bell wrote.
