The Television Academy event for FX's American Horror Story: Hotel scheduled for Monday night has officially been canceled.

The cast and producers of American Horror Story: Hotel were slated to have a panel to promote the show to Emmy voters on Monday. However, due to the horrific terror attack in Orlando over the weekend, it was decided to not hold the event.

"In light of this weekend's events in Orlando, Twentieth Century Fox Television and FX have decided not to proceed with tonight's American Horror Story: Hotel FYC event. They appreciate your interest in their show, and apologize for canceling," the official Emmy website states. "On behalf of everyone at Twentieth Century Fox Television and FX, our hearts break for the victims and survivors of this senseless tragedy. There are simply no words."

The event was slated to feature stars Lady Gaga, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Wes Bentley, Matt Bomer, Denis O'Hare, Cheyenne Jackson, Finn Wittrock and executive producers Tim Minear and Ryan Murphy.

Many fans were excited for the event, with growing speculation that the theme for season 6 might have been announced there. This possibility seemed even more realistic after the official images for Hotel were removed from the American Horror Story Facebook and Twitter pages, which are now replaced with black images.

It is unclear if the Television Academy will reschedule the FYC event for American Horror Story, as there was no mention of this on the website.

Regardless, fans should probably expect a season 6 concept announcement relatively soon. After all, filming has already begun on the new season and it's bound to come out at some point. Past season concepts have been revealed much earlier in the year than June, but this time around it has been much more secretive.

American Horror Story season 6 will premiere this fall on FX.
