One of the newest actresses on Netflix's Orange Is the New Black delves into how her character is similar to celebrity chef Paula Deen.

TV legend Blair Brown plays Judy King on the Netflix prison dramedy, a food and lifestyle TV personality who gets arrested on tax evasion charges. Judy was previously seen on the prison's TV during season 3, with Poussey (Samira Wiley) having a particular interest in her.

Now she is in Litchfield and ready to cause a commotion in the prison. Brown recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly about playing the character.

"She's really a piece of work, isn't she? I usually play polite and responsible people. [Laughs] Judy is a person who continually makes wrong decisions. I'm having the best time," she admitted.

While comparisons have been made to real-life TV personality Martha Stewart, who was arrested for similar money troubles, Brown sees her character as having similarities to another famous TV chef.

"In some ways she's more like Paula Deen, just sort of that weird Southern friendly quality," Brown said. "My mother was Southern, and I know Southern women. I've really loved playing her - and the show is just so great, they give you so much leeway."

Brown also discussed how she managed to get into the highly acclaimed TV series.

"Oh, yes, I wanted in. Luckily [creator] Jenji Kohan was a fan of The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd. [Brown starred on the comedy from 1987 to 1991.] I got a call about being on the show, and I was on a plane the next day," she said. "And then, of course, it turned out that Orange is filmed on the same soundstage that Molly Dodd was. So two of my happiest TV experiences happened in the same place. It's a good-luck building."

Orange Is the New Black is slated to drop its fourth season this Friday on Netflix.
