Musician Stevie Nicks - who has lived a life as both a solo performer and Fleetwood Mac's lead vocalist - initially felt that actress Reese Witherspoon would be an ideal option to play her in a biopic, but has now reconsidered her decision.

"I've already told [Reese] she's almost too old. I love her, but she's like, 'I could play your mother.' I'm like 'O.K.' " Nicks told Entertainment Tonight Canada, at the Toronto launch of her new documentary titled In Your Dreams.

While Witherspoon, 37, is not at the ideal age that the 64-year-old singer-songwriter feels would be right for the part, the actress is no stranger to pulling off the role of a musician. Witherspoon nabbed an Oscar, Golden Globe, and a SAG Award for playing June Carter - the wife and singer of the late Johnny Cash - in 2005's Walk the Line.

Although Nicks' biopic is nothing more than a potential project at this point in time, her real life is exposed in her recently released documentary. Her producing partner, Dave Stewart, made the suggestion that Nicks film the process of recording her first solo album in 10 years. She wasn't too crazy about such an idea at first but Nicks ultimately gave it the green light, wanting to use it as a personal memento.

"I thought a few people would see it and love it and it would go back on the library shelf," she said. "They say good things come to people who wait... I think good things come to people who don't expect anything."
