Wondering how badly did The Flash's Barry Allen upend his own timeline? We're one step closer to finding out!

Central City's hero defeated Zoom (Teddy Sears) as season 2 came to a close, but the calamitous events of the last two years have finally taken their toll. Emotionally devastated by his father's death, Barry (Grant Gustin) threw caution to the winds and used his newly minted tachyon device to hurtle back into his childhood once more. The Scarlet Speedster saved his mother's life...but at what cost?

Fans will find out when season 3 hits The CW on Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. ET.

Details regarding the Flashpoint-infused plot are few and far between. While the cast has steered clear of outright confirming the season's connection to Geoff Johns iconic work, Carlos Valdes (Cisco) dropped a few teasers at Megacon last month.

"I think I can say this without a doubt: wherever we go from here, it's going to be unique and it's going to be different and it's going to honor the original chronology and the original lore while at the same time, writing a new spin on it," Valdes told Comic Book. "I think it's that spirit that's allowed our shows to do as well as they do, so I ask the fandom to have faith."

That being said, the premiere will certainly throw both comic book and TV fans for a loop

"I know for a fact that season three is going start in a very unexpected place," Valdes teased, according to Monkeys Fighting Robots. "I think fans are going to be a little discombobulated, but the payoff is spectacular."
