When Hollywood couples split, they usually pack their bags and move out of the mansion they shared together before they even make an announcement to the public. But with Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, something has definitely been going on as even though they announced their separation one year ago, they are still living and raising their family together.

And now there's speculation that they are having a hard time pulling the plug on their marriage simply because things have become so habitual with each other, than Affleck is even still calling Garner his "wife" in public.

During a recent interview on Any Given Wednesday with Bill Simmons (which many think the actor might have been slightly intoxicated during taping), the Hollywood actor talked about the career slump he had right after he broke up with ex-fiance Jennifer Lopez in 2004. It was then that he referred to Garner as his wife by saying, "That was where I found myself when I thought 'hey I want to take up directing,' which is for people that are taken seriously. That became my mantra 'I'm just going to work harder than everybody else...' My wife was really instrumental and helpful in me doing a lot of that work because I was just so focused [on it] and it was harder to balance family and all that."

It seems like a lot of media outlets and gossip blogs are trying to dissect exactly what Affleck meant by calling Garner his wife. The couple is technically married even though they've already put behind a one-year separation behind them.

Rob Shuter of Naughty Gossip wrote on Friday, "In this case, the habit of their lives together, balancing the habitual necessity of lifestyle for their family while negotiating the process of consciously uncoupling - how do you find the balance in that so that you can transition from spouses to friends? Gwyneth Paltrow might have some answers. But that was a breakup that we now know was, in the end, a clear break. Has there been a clear break between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner? Does he want there to be?"
