The Nintendo NX is pretty much a make or break console for the Japanese gaming giant. After the immense success of the Wii and the immense failure of the Wii U, the NX is speculated by many as the machine which would determine if Nintendo would still stay on the console market in the gaming generations to come.

However, as much as the company is prepping up to release its next flagship console, the NX, its two main rivals, the Sony and Microsoft, have both announced successors to their current consoles. Thus, with the PS4 Neo and the Xbox Scorpio in the horizon, the NX seems to be destined for a difficult battle.

Adding to the agitation of Nintendo fans is the fact that the gaming giant has been very tight-lipped about the specs of the new system. Unlike its rivals, which have all but revealed the specs of their future devices, almost nothing is still known about the Nintendo NX.

As it turns out, the gaming giant's silence has been strategic all along. According to Shigeru Miyamoto, the man who created both the Mario and Zelda franchises, Nintendo has been very silent about the NX because the company is still working on an idea that would be featured in the upcoming console.

"In terms of NX, there's an idea that we're working on. That's why we can't share anything at this point, and I don't want to comment on the other companies. If it was just a matter of following advancements in technology, things would be coming out a lot quicker," he said.

Of course, Miyamoto's statement has garnered both positive and negative reactions from fans, with some lauding Nintendo for possibly pushing another new, innovative idea for console gaming, while others are expressing their agitation at the possibility that Nintendo's concept for the NX is still incomplete at this time.

Considering the fact that the NX would be released in just about nine months, the fears of the latter seem rather well-founded.
