Early Friday morning, police closed off densely populated areas of the Boston metro area after a long night of chasing the two Boston Marathon bombing suspects,

The chase left one suspect and a police officer dead, according to CNN.

Cops ordered businesses in the Watertown area and nearby communities to remain closed, telling residents to stay inside and refrain from answering their doors to anyone except authorities. The city’s subway, bus and Amtrak train systems have been shut down, as have schools and taxi services across the city.

"It's jarring," said CNN blog writer and Watertown resident Danielle Tumminio.

Boston's public transit authority sent city buses to Watertown to evacuate residents as bomb experts investigate the surroundings for possible explosives. Police shot one of the men dead late on Thursday following a wild car chase through Watertown, in which authorities said the suspects hurled explosives at pursuing officers. Officers believe the men are the same ones pictured in the images that were released on Thursday by the FBI as suspects in the marathon bombing that killed three people on Monday.

The men are shown in the images walking together near the marathon finish line.

Boston bombing suspects Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev are brothers from Chechnya and have been in the states for several years, according to the report.

Dzhokhar,19, is the suspect who is wearing a white cap in a still image taken Monday. He is still at large and is the younger brother of Tamerlan's, a 26-year-old who had been shot dead during a shootout late Thursday night..

Dzhokhar is still on the run but CNN is reporting that police has surrounded a house in Watertown, Mass. News coverage shows police officers with their guns drawn -possibly waiting for the suspect to emerge. The whole city of Boston is in lockdown, with schools being closed and the Harvard University community has been warned to stay indoors.

Both brothers appear to have an athletic background.

Tamberlan was photographed for a series called 'Will Box For Passport'. In one of the photos, he is quoted as saying, "I don't have a single American friend. I don't understand them."

He studied at Bunker Hill Community College and wanted to become an engineer.

Another photo says that he is a Muslim and that he does not drink or smoke.

In another picture, Tamerlan says he's very religious and that he doesn't usually take his shirt off so girls don't get bad ideas.

"We need more time," Alben said. "We're making significant progress up there. But it may take hours to do this."
