Katy Perry is working on her third studio album and the Teenage Dream singer told Billboard about her experiences in working with fellow songwriters and producers.

She began recording the album earlier this year, a followup to the 2010's top chart record Teenage Dream.

“When I put myself on a timeline, when I tell the record company when I want to release the album, that’s when the race stars. That’s when I put pressure on myself” said Perry.

The 28-year-old said she has a positive relationship with producers and songwriters Dr. Luke and Max Martin: “They allow me to vomit words. Not that I can’t find that with other but he just lets me [make retching sound]."

Perry said she has continued to work with songwriter Bonnie McKee and the two recently recorded a new song, Double Rainbow. The relationship between the two, Perry admitted, has been strained in the recent past.

“Working with Bonnie is like an emotional abuse session,” the singer claimed, adding, “Bonnie and I argue like we’re in the ring fighting for the best lyric. We presented Teenage Dream three times before it was recorded."

Perry was recently tangled in lawsuit with GHD when her agent claimed the hair product company owed her millions after it cut ties with the singer and her alleged waning popularity.
