Quantico will blow off the doors to a whole new mystery this September. Starting with the season 2 premiere, Alex Parrish will dive into another mystery rife with subterfuge, jaw-dropping twists, and deadly stakes.

Quantico will return to ABC's 10 p.m. ET time slot on Sunday Sept. 25, using the premiere to pick up in the wake of Alex's (Priyanka Chopra) dismissal from the FBI. If you didn't watch season 1, don't worry. Aside from Claire Haas' menacing presence, the Grand Central bombing will be a done deal when the FBI crew returns this fall.

"Season 2 will keep the two storyline structure, because it is - I wish I could tell you what it is, but I can't - the Season 2 event is not a huge plot like I'm on the run and I'm being framed, which meant she was constantly on the move and constantly coming into people's stories," series creator Josh Safran told TV Line. "It was two full stories on two tracks at all times. This one is one full story, and then one slow thing. It's a cleaner build, that's the best I can say. It will be less confusing."

With a host of new characters - Russell Tovey's Harry Doyle, a polyglot named Lydia, and Henry Czerny's mystery character - there's plenty of room for intrigue. What fans won't see, however, is the same level of complicated hook ups that dotted the freshman run.

"I feel like, if season 1 was a college-like atmosphere that allowed for that soap, season 2 is not necessarily a college-like atmosphere, so I'm hoping [the characters] can mature as well so it's not so much soap as true character connection and a slower build to a relationship," Safran informed Entertainment Weekly.

Does that mean Alex and Ryan's (Jake McLaughlin) on-again/off-again romance will have a chance to blossom? Find out when Quantico returns to screens this fall.
