The Flash universe has a wonderful opportunity at its speedy little fingertips. Flashpoint is coming, and while it likely won't last for long, Barry's new timeline is prime real estate for some highly anticipated returns.

The STAR Labs team has lost friends across the board, either because of death or simple departure. Some of these characters, such as Jesse (Violett Beane), have already been confirmed for season 3. For the following five, well, here's to hoping.

Eddie Thawne

Back in season 1, the Central City detective lost his life saving his friends from the evils of Harrison Wells/Eobard Thawne (Tom Cavanagh). The Flash brought him back for this year's "Flashback," and we're hoping the well-intentioned cop will find his way into season 3.

WestAllen fans shouldn't fret, however. Should Eddie return, Candice Patton (Iris) doesn't think writers will choose to rekindle their romance.

"As far as Eddie coming back, I don't know anything about that. I think it's safe to say that that relationship is probably done," Patton said at Dallas Fan Expo. "But don't quote me. I don't know, I don't write the show."

Patty Spivot

Luckily for Patty, she doesn't need a new time line to snag a return. Barry's former love interest is studying to become a CSI, and she could return to either the Flashpoint world or the real world with no problem.

"We very consciously did not kill her and we all loved working with her and how much the audience liked her, so I wouldn't be surprised if we haven't seen the last of Patty Spivot," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told The Hollywood Reporter in the wake of "The Reverse Flash Returns."

Linda Park

Zoom forced Dr. Light's doppleganger from her home in season 2, but, now that he's out of the picture, it's time for the sport's reporter to come back to Central City. There's no official word regarding Linda's future, but the actress is hoping the writers will pen her a few lines in season 3.

Ronnie Raymond

In a world in which Barry and the Reverse Flash never caused a singularity, Caitlin's husband never would have lost his life. Does that mean Ronnie will have a role to play in the world of Flashpoint? Amell certainly hopes so.

"I would love to go back," Amell said at Emerald City Comic Con, as per Screen Rant. "I told [executive producer Gregg Berlanti]: 'Whenever I'm available, whenever you want me, I'm there.' I would prefer to go back as Firestorm [rather] than Deathstorm. I loved playing Deathstorm but I think it's tougher to have a serious arc if I'm going back as a bad guy, because I just won't last as long."

Grodd

Would Grodd even exist in the world of Flashpoint? We don't know, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg has made it exceptional clear that the gorilla will be back for season 3.

"I would liken the Gorilla City thing to Ra's al Ghul," Kreisberg said, according to Screen Rant. "You know, you hear about 'the man from Nanda Par Bat' in [Arrow] Season 1, and 'the man who showed Malcolm the way'" and then you met Nyssa, then in Season 3 you met Ra's. So, it's a long-term thing."
