Anne Hathaway fearlessly chopped off her locks during the filming of Les Miserables.

When Hathaway, 30, performed the deed, it paid off in more ways than one. Not only did she earn several honors for her performance- including the Best Suppirting Actress Oscar in February- but the pixie haircut itself just earned the title of Most Influential Film Haircut of All Time.

In a poll conducted by the Hairdressing Council of Great Britain and Universal Pictures, Hathaway earned the largest percentage of votes by 1,000 people, according to Marie Claire UK. Jennifer Aniston's hairstyle came in second, for her look in Along Came Polly and Audrey Hepburn's classic updo in Breakfast at Tiffany's earned the third highest nod.

Hathaway revealed in an interview that she brought in her own hairdresser to have her hair cut off on-camera for the emotional scene in Les Miserables where the character she played, Fantine, becomes so destitute she is forced to cut her hair to sell it to make ends meet.

'When you're seeing it in the film, that is my actual hair being cut off," Hathaway told NOW. "What you see on screen was a little bit of a mixture of my real emotion and acting."

Hathway's Les Miserables co-star Hugh Jackman told Mail Online that Hathaway was so into getting her hair cut to get the scene right, that she suggested during a production meeting in his trailer, "If you cut my head while you are doing it that would be great- to get the blood in the scene."
