Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx's relationship appeared to be confirmed at the end of last month by his "good friend" Claudia Jordan, formerly of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, but a short time later, Jordan backpeddled on her claims of a romance, telling press she simply misspoke.

While Jordan may be taking back everything she said, Holmes and Foxx continue to be linked to one another, as they have been since 2013, but when it comes to a public confirmation, fans shouldn't be holding their breath.

"Jamie is extremely mad that she told everyone," a source close to Jordan told Entertainment Tonight, claiming Foxx's team contacted the reality star. "She's in panic mode and doing major backpedaling."

In recent years, both Holmes and Foxx have made it clear that they don't want to make a spectacle over their dating lives.

"I don't want that moment in my life to define me, to be who I am," Holmes told PEOPLE Magazine in Oct. 2014. "I don't want that to be what I'm known as. I was an actor before, an actor during and an actor now."

"I like to stay quiet, you know, with anyone that I'm dating; that I'm really, really dating," Foxx told Nancy O'Dell in 2012. "If there's somebody that you're dating, the worst thing you can do is let that [points at camera] touch you. Because once that camera touches you, [it's out]...You have to make sure it's real. We don't take time to do that anymore."

In March of last year, a source spoke to PEOPLE Magazine, claiming Holmes' relationship with Foxx wasn't as serious as some outlets had claimed. However, at the same time, another source said the rumored couple often spends hours together at a time at his home in Los Angeles.

"This is not some intense romance," a source told the magazine. "Jamie and Katie are friends and have been for a long time. They are two adults who are attractive and single, and so apparently conclusions will be drawn... But contrary to those conclusions, they're not about to run off and make some serious commitment."

Although Holmes used to be based in New York City, she purchased a home in Los Angeles in Aug. 2014 for her and her daughter, 10-year-old Suri Cruise, as rumors regarding her alleged romance with Foxx continued to swirl.

Since moving to the west coast, the PEOPLE Magazine insider revealed, 36-year-old Holmes has been visiting Foxx, 47, "often" at his home nearby.

"They spend hours together" at a time, the source alleged.
