From troubled teen to lonely traveler, Girl Meets World's Shawn Hunter has spent his life on the edge of other people's happiness. It's about high time that changed.

While Girl Meets World's teenage 'ships are stuck in dry dock, the romance between Shawn (Rider Strong) and Maya's (Sabrina Carpenter) mother is alive and well. As Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and her pal plan to get out of Dodge in "Girl Meets Upstate," the '90s bad boy will pop the question.

"Tonight: Upstate. Shawn. Happiness. What?" the Girl Meets World writers teased on July 1, inadvertently hyping the episode a week early.

Photos show Shawn and Katy (Cheryl Texiera) in the midst of the proposal, but Ms. Hart's response remains a mystery. Considering "Girl Meets I Do" is just around the corner, we think it's safe to hope for the best.

Clearly this is the turning point Strong desired when Disney announced the next-generation spinoff.

"I'd like to see him happier," Strong told Entertainment Tonight back in 2013. "I feel like Shawn was destined for tragedy."

The impending engagement comes as a blow for those still championing Boy Meets World's Shawn and Angela (Trina McGee) 'ship. The pair broke up over a decade ago, and despite the fact that the later is happily married and contemplating motherhood, there are still those fans pining for lost love. McGee, however, "feel[s] happy for the characters," and, based on Angela's track record, we think the character would be the first in line to congratulate her ex. Okay, first in line behind Cory (Ben Savage).
