Jennifer Lynch is among the first female directors to work on FX's American Horror Story.

Lynch, the director of famed auteur director David Lynch, has been posting photos on Instagram of her experience with American Horror Story these past few weeks.

Based on the chair with her name on it, it can probably be assumed that she is directing at least one episode of the new season. The photo of her covered in blood also probably means that fans should expect the new season to get off to a bloody start. Jennifer has previously directed several episodes of television, including horror-friendly series like The Walking Dead, Teen Wolf, Wayward Pines and Damien.

The news of Jennifer's involvement with American Horror Story comes after showrunner Ryan Murphy's recent pledge to hire 50 percent women, people of color and those from the LGBT community for his future projects. The series has previously had all male directors for its first five seasons.

Another female director to helm at least one episode of the new American Horror Story season is Angela Bassett. The actress confirmed this in a previous interview with The Chew.

"[I'll direct] at least one [episode]," she said. "We usually have male directors but [I'll] be the first female director."

Bassett's co-star Sarah Paulson recently spoke about the lack of male directors on American Horror Story in a Hollywood Reporter roundtable discussion.

"I think very little has changed," she said, upon being asked how things have changed for women since the '90s. "What's maybe changed is the fact that there's more of a conversation happening about it, but I don't know that there's been that much forward motion. I mean, I haven't had a female director on 'American Horror Story' in the six years that I've been on the show."

American Horror Story season 6 will premiere Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
