McKayla Maroney is accepting the fact that she can't stay the same person forever.

On Friday, the gymnast took to Instagram to post a new selfie that shows her smiling against a wall while letting her dark hair flow down. In the caption, she wrote about how people don't seem to like the fact that she's becoming a different person as she grows up. But that won't stop her from finding a part of herself that she'll grow into and find her true path.

"I totally understand why people are upset about me 'changing,' I get it," Maroney wrote. "But if I can promise you one thing, it's that I will never stop changing. Life is all about growing, evolving, and becoming more and more yourself, and these last couple years I've done nothing but that!"

At this point, Maroney is happy with who she is and couldn't care less what anyone else thinks about that.

"I've finally gotten myself to the point where I know who I am, and I want out [of] life, and you can either love me, or hate me for that," she wrote. "Either way, I love you and wish you the best because to me a real role model is someone who has the courage to be exactly who they are no matter what anyone else thinks...and if I can inspire one person to live like that, then I've done my job on this planet."

Maroney finished her positive caption with the hashtag "KeepSmiling."

While Maroney is known for her tumbling abilities, she is also one of the most popular celebrities online with more than one million followers.
