The latest episode of Dragon Ball Super was primarily character-driven. After the insanity from the first episodes of the ongoing arc, the plot of the anime has resumed a more relaxed pace, exploring characters and building up what could possibly the main villain of the current Future Trunks story. Episode 52 continued in this trend, exploring Future Trunks and Gohan's relationship and setting up Goku's confrontation with Zamasu, the mysterious Kai whose Ki is very similar to Black Goku's.

It is interesting that Dragon Ball Super opted to leave fans with a character-driven episode before it starts to explore what could be the most important revelation in the entire arc so far. After all, Dragon Ball Super is not airing this week, so it will take twice as long for fans to find out what happens next.

Then again, Episode 53, which will air in two weeks' time, is arguably the most important episode in the Future Trunks arc yet. After all, the title of the episode, Reveal Black's True Identity! Now Off to the Kaioshin Realm of Universe 10, says it all. It would be a pretty long wait, but the truth behind one of the most cryptic Dragon Ball villains to emerge in recent years would finally be unveiled.

The preview of the upcoming episode significantly adds to the hype surrounding the episode as well, as Goku is seen fighting with Zamasu in his Super Saiyan 2 form. Contrary to other Kais that have been featured in the anime so far, it appears like Zamasu would is very aggressive, to the point where he would probably give Goku a very challenging fight.

The fact that Whis and Beerus seem to be observing Goku and Zamasu's fight on a screen also adds to the notion that this particular Kai would be a very notable challenge for Goku.

Indeed, Episode 52 might have been a downer for some fans, as the episode simply explored the relationship of the series' main characters. However, the plot of the anime would surely pick up from this point, and as it does, fans will surely relish in the upcoming epic battles that would surely come.
