The first full Star Trek Into Darkness clip has hit the Internet, and it has Spock (Zachary Quinto) in a bit of a tight spot.

Pulled from the very beginning of the film, the clip was first seen as part of an extended first look given before IMAX screening of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey back in December, according to The Wrap. However, with the premier less than a month away, Trekkies across the web are being treated to a glimpse from inside the Enterprise.

The snippet of film features Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) and his returning crew members (Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, and Anton Yelchin) as they try to find away to save Spock from the belly of a volcano.

The main problem? Not violating the prime directive by giving a pre-warp civilization a glimpse at space travel technology. Spock's logic and strict adherence to the rules of Starfleet dictates that he should die rather than risk exposure in a rescue mission.

"The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few," he reminds Kirk before he loses communication with the bridge.

Considering the bulk of the movie features Starfleet's fight against Benedict Cumberbatch's sinister villain, there's a high chance that Kirk manages to save his friend from becoming a crispy Vulcan, although fans will have to wait and see what the fall out from that decision may be.

Star Trek Into Darkness opens nationwide on May 17
