They managed to escape the explosion Andre (Thaao Penghlis) had set up for them so he could exact revenge for Stefano's murder, but Rafe (Galen Gering) and Hope (Kristian Alfonso) will still remain trapped in the DiMera tunnels and in peril on Days of Our Lives.

The pair did escape the explosion at the last minute after Hope shot at Rafe's chains to free him, and they slipped through a trap door into the tunnels below. However, though they managed to escape death, they didn't escape injury, and Rafe has an injured leg and Hope has an injury in her side that is proving to quickly be life-threatening.

Hope is flitting in and out of consciousness, and has even started to become delirious over reality and what she is imagining in her head, meaning she is running out of time before she could actually die. And Rafe is doing everything he can to try and keep her alive, but he also knows he is running out of time, and his love for her, is being tested in ways he never imagined they would be as a result.

However, the wreckage from the explosion has blocked one of their only exits from the tunnels that could bring them to safety and get Hope medical attention, meaning they remain trapped for now.

Help could hopefully soon be on the way though, since Shawn (Brandon Beemer) has been actively looking into the explosion since he knows his mother and Rafe were inside at the time. The fact that no bodies were found has been encouraging, but a search is still on to find them. Finally, after a comment by Eduardo (A. Martinez), Shawn realized that they are probably in the tunnels. And when he took his belief to Abe (James Reynolds), he agreed it was very possible that the pair were there.

However, before they can search the tunnels, they need to have permission to access them, and that would mean they need to get approval from either Andre himself, or Chad (Billy Flynn).

Days of Our Lives airs Monday-Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
