Almost all details about Rockstar Games' upcoming titles, Grand Theft Auto VI, are still pretty much a big mystery, with the developer refusing to release any detail about the game or its progress to date. Indeed, while most of the franchise's fans were quite optimistic about the prospect of a GTA 6 reveal in the recently-conducted E3 2016, that was not to be the case, as the event concluded without any news about the upcoming title at all.

Despite Rockstar's silence, however, fans of the extremely successful franchise are still hoping that concrete details about Grand Theft Auto VI will be released soon. If any, the rumor mill has so far maintained its momentum, speculating about several notable aspects of the upcoming title and how they might affect the plot and theme of the next game.

One of the most interesting speculations that have been put forward recently was the possibility of Grand Theft Auto VI being set in Mexico. While Rockstar has been pretty vocal about GTA being an American story in the past, the utilization of Mexico as the next location for its next title would be a pretty good compromise.

This is because Mexico practically has everything that the Grand Theft Auto is made of. After all, the country is known, unfortunately, for its gangs and prominent drug trade. Over the years, Mexico has been the site of numerous clashes between gangs and drug cartels, with a number of prominent politicians getting accused of being corrupt. Just like what Rockstar did for the United States, the developer could simply create a fictionalized version of the Latin American country and set its next game there.

Rumors have been emerging for a while now that the next Grand Theft Auto game would be set in a location that is outside the United States. While Japan and London might not be viable, Mexico would be pretty much perfect, given the country's close ties with the United States. If Rockstar does indeed decide to explore this option, it would definitively bring a whole new dynamic to the GTA franchise.
