The widow of suspected Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev has a criminal record as a shoplifter along with his mother, according to Daily Mail.

Katherine Russell, 25, was arrested on June 26, 2007, for stealing $67 worth of clothing from an Old Navy store in Warwick, R.I., a police report indicated. She was 18 at the time of the arrest and she told officers she was married, though she was living with her parents and only met Tsarnaev years later.

The once Christian - now Islam convert because of Tsarnaev - was apprehended along with an unnamed female minor. Russell was described in the report as "skinny" with hazel eyed and red or auburn hair. She was listed as unemployed and married.

She was taken in handcuffs to Warwick Police Department, and store Loss Prevention Agent Lewis said "they admitted to shoplifting the items and handed them over without further incident."

Russell took five items valuing $67 and her friend took three items totaling at $125, according to the news report.

Russell's charges were dismissed on $200 fine and doing community service. That fall she enrolled in Boston's Suffolk University in Boston and shortly after she met Tsarnaev. Her friends said she got pregnant in her senior year and dropped out so close to getting her degree.Records show she attended Suffolk University from 2007 to 2010, but she did not graduate.

In a similar turn of events, Tsarnaev's mother was arrested in 2012 after stealing several designer dresses from a Lord and Taylor in Natick, Mass. Zubeidat Tsarnaev stole items that totaled in value to $1,624. She was charged with "larceny over $250 and two counts of malicious/wanton damage/defacement to property," a 2012 Patch.com report read.

Tamerlan was arrested on charges of assault and battery in 2009, but that was with his ex-girlfriend Nadine Ascencao. The charges were dismissed before trial.
