Some of our favorite Empire characters might have snagged their own series after starring in the Fox hit.

Word is Taraji P. Henson, who plays Cookie Lyon, and Terrence Howard (Lucious Lyon) got their own show.

“There’s a good chance there will be a spinoff,” the Executive Producer Ilene Chaiken said at the Television Critics Association conference (TCAs), according to The Jasmine Brand Tuesday. “The show offers so many opportunities. Potential spinoffs with these characters – sure!”

The series might be getting a spinoff but there is still more than enough drama that is expected to appear in season three. Empire left fans shock in the sophomore season finale as Anika Calhoun (Grace Gealey) or Rhonda Lyon (Kaitlyn Doubleday) fell off of a balcony after the ladies fought. Lucious married Anika just moments before so Anika would not have to testify against him in a case federal agents had been building against him for the entire season.

While fans wait for news of a possible spinoff, Mariah Carey has been tapped for a guest appearance on the upcoming third season. It definitely looks like the show has decided not to book as many celebrities this season. But Carey made the cut and Henson is happy about it.

“She was great,” Henson gushed. “She’s fabulous; I wish I could wear a leotard like that. What she brings to the music industry she brought to the show. I’m glad Mariah spent time with little old us.”

Empire returns Sept. 21 at 9/8c on Fox.
