Actor Chris Pine and Sports Illustrated model Dominique Piek have called it quits.

According to US Weekly, the couple ended their relationship on mutual terms after an almost two year relationship.

"It was a mutual call," a source stated, according to Us Weekly. "They both needed their space. She has been very busy with her modeling work and traveling. He's got Star Trek and his other projects keeping him busy."

Pine, who is most well known for his role as Captain Kirk in the recent Star Trek reboots, spoke little of his love life and was first seen with Piek at the Cannes Film Festival last year, reports E!.

The 27-year-old Piek, who hails from South Africa, was previously dating pro baseball player C.J. Wilson, while Pine's past flings include such names as Olivia Munn and Beau Garrett.

While Pine told the Huffington Post that he looked for the usual in a mate - "Intelligence, beauty. A good woman, I guess" - the 32-year-old actor also looks for someone who can make him laugh.

"I do like dating cynics - they tend to be incredibly funny," Pine told Men's Health. "Dating someone on the opposite end of the happy spectrum teaches you an incredible amount of patience."

Pine can be seen in Star Trek Into Darkness starting May 17.
