Matt Bomer has his grandparents to thank for keeping a steady marriage with his husband.

On Saturday, People released details from the actor who made an appearance at the onePULSE Foundation benefit in support of the tragic shooting that took place at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando last June. When Bomer opened up on his marriage to publicist Simon Halls, he mentioned that it can be hard to keep the romance constant since they also have children.

"Well, so we have three kids right now, so you've got to fit the romance in when you can," Bomer said. "I sort of take cues from my grandparents."

The actor added that he and Halls take it "one day at a time" to keep a healthy marriage. And when it comes to his grandparents, they seem to have it all worked out after so many years of being married.

"[My grandparents] just celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary, so I always look to them and I see how every day they express their love for each other and I try to follow," Bomer said. "They've set a pretty good model for me to follow."

Bomer and Halls have three sons: Kit, Walker and Henry. The actor previously told People that he wants his children to have a free childhood while they can before they start thinking about what they want to do for the rest of their lives.

"When I was eight-years-old, I asked my parents to get my head shots, and they were like, 'What are you talking about?! Go outside and play!' I'm so glad they did," Bomer said. "I had a normal childhood where I was able to cultivate my own creativity, and I don't think I would have been ready for this crazy business at eight-years-old."
