The best woman has won, and Beyonce can officially call herself the winner of the Best Female Video VMA for 2016!

Bey beat out Adele for "Hello", Ariana Grande for "Into You", Rihanna for "Work" ft. Drake, and Sia for "Cheap Thrills" for her award, in one of the tougher fields of the night due to the talent that was present in the category.

Beyonce won the award shortly after taking the stage in a surprise performance of "Lemonade," which was applauded by everyone in attendance. She kept her speech short, simply thanking a few people, before heading off.

The 2016 show proved to catapult Beyonce to the top of the history books as far as the VMAs are concerned, as she has officially become the most winning celebrity of all time. She previously had 16 awards, but with this win, her win for Breakthrough Longform Video for "Lemonade," and several technical awards for "Formation," she now calls 21 Moonmen Statues her own.

Adele had previously won three VMAs, in addition to 18 Billboard Music Awards, 10 Grammys, Four American Music Awards, One Academy Award, One Golden Globe, One Kid's Choice Award and One iHeartRadio Award. She was also nominated for Video of the Year and Best Pop Video.

Grande has one VMA, in addition to Three Kid's Choice Awards, Two iHeartRadio Awards and Two American Music Awards. She was also nominated for Best Pop Video.

Rihanna, who was presented the Video Vanguard Award for 2016, has three other VMAs, 12 Billboard Music Awards, nine American Music Awards, Eight Grammys and Four iHeartRadio Awards. She was also nominated for Best Collaboration Video.

Sia has won one VMA, for choreography for "Chandelier." She was also nominated for Song of the Summer.
