Pretty soon, Pokémon GO players would be able to simulate the franchise's main character, Ash, in the real world. According to leaks unearthed in the augmented reality game's code, a Pokémon Buddy System would be introduced very soon, allowing players to "walk" their Pokémon for some Candy.

Pokémon GO Buddy System Uncovered

The new feature was brought to the public's attention Pokémon GO Hub, which ran through the game's codes with a very fine-toothed comb. As it turned out, the Buddy System is already in the game, and as far as one could see, it is going to be one nifty feature.

Pokémon GO Buddy System Mechanics

While there is a very good chance that Niantic might still change the mechanics of the Pokémon GO Buddy System, the current iteration of the code states that the new feature will use the same server side distance calculation as the one used by the developer for Pokemon Eggs.

Players can select their Buddy Pokemon, and depending on the creature's type, the selected monster would then appear beside the player on the game. The code has shown references to Pokémon resting on the player's shoulder, flying next to the player, as well as medium and big-sized Pokémon walking beside the player.

Pokémon GO Buddy System Rewards and Limits

The current iteration of the code states that the Pokémon GO Buddy System will reward players with Pokémon Candies once certain distances are met. The amount of candy that players would earn by walking their Pokemon would most likely vary. So far, however, the game's codes do not state the exact number of Candies that players will earn by walking their Pokemon.

According to the ones who discovered the code, the game would also allow players to walk a selected Pokémon multiple times during the game. However, Niantic might impose some limits on the amount of candy that will be given to players who walk their Pokémon.

Pokémon GO Buddy System Release Date

Though Niantic has been quite mum about the actual release date of the Buddy System, the fact that it already lies in the game's codes mean that the developer is probably ready to roll out the feature soon. In fact, if Pokemon updates are any indication, there is a pretty good chance that Pokemon GO would see the Buddy System implemented as early as next week.

If the Pokemon GO Buddy System does take effect next week, the world will probably see hordes of Pokemon GO players walking around cities and parks once more.
