While there's been various news reports floating around stating that Magic Mike's Alex Pettyfer is the frontrunner for the part of Christian Grey, many fans are still pulling for British star Henry Cavill to land the role of the S & M-crazed billionaire.

While the 29-year-old is currently in the midst of promoting his upcoming Man of Steel flick, several Fifty Shades loyalists are keeping ther fingers crossed that he may be considered for the groundbreaking part.

On Feb. 22, Cavill had dressed up strikingly similar to the Christian Grey character alongside his real-life girlfriend, Gina Carano for the Great British Film Reception in Los Angeles.

Cavill was voted "Breakout Star of 2013" by Fandango in January. In the contest, the actor prevailed against fellow Brit movie stars Nicholas Hoult and Sam Clafin of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, among several other notable actors.

Many women will surely be rooting for Cavill to don the Grey role primarlily due to his dashing looks and well-chiseled physique.

He had also spoken Details this past November about the possibility of playing the wealthy and kinky CEO.

"Whether that happens, that decision will be made at the time it has to be made. It would be a very different kind of thing than 'Man of Steel,'" he said.

Screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who is in the midst of penning the movie script, stated that the flick would be staying true to the book with lots of sex and raunchiness. Producers are shooting for an NC-17 rating, according to a write-up in Style magazine. 

Although the producers have yet to officially attach a director to the franchise, Fifty Shades of Grey is slated for its big screen release in summer of 2014.  The film will be shot in London.
