His Highness the Aga Khan announced in a press release on April 26 that runway model Kendra Spears and his eldest son, Prince Rahim Aga Khan, will marry in a traditional Muslim cermony.

The 24-year-old model will marry royalty in what is expected to be a extravagant wedding, though a date has not yet been set. The Aga Khan is the spiritual leader or Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims. He currently resides in France.

"Thank you all for the kind tweets! We're very excited!" Spears tweeted on April 26 shortly after the announcement.

Spears, a Seattle native, won a Ford Models competition in 2008 and has appeared in publications like Vogue and Elle, according to Us Weekly. She also starred in campaigns for Diane von Furstenberg, Calvin Klein, and Emporio Armani. Spears also has a "strong interest in arts and architecture," according to the press release.

The royal, 41-year-old Prince Rahim Aga Khan, is a graduate of Brown University and currently involved in "poverty reduction efforts, notably micro-credit activities" through the Aga Khan Development Network, in places as far-reaching as Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Spears is not the first model to marry into Aga Khan's family. The spiritual leader was married to British model Sarah Croker-Poole and his father (Prince Rahim Aga Khan's grandfather) was married to Rita Hayworth.
