They seemed to be a happy couple who were destined for a long-term set up and were even rumored several times to be engaged, but it appears that Cara Delevingne and St. Vincent (aka Annie Clark) have called it quits on their year-and-a-half long romance.

According to The Sun, the pair called it quits during Delevingne's hectic press tour schedule promoting Suicide Squad, and the long distance their relationship was enduring simply took its toll on the couple.

"Cara and Annie still care about each other, but pressures of the long-distance romance just became too much," a source told the publication.

The cooling off for the romance appeared to begin showing last month, as Delevingne celebrated her 24th birthday, sans Clark, and her girlfriend failed to gush about her on social media, instead posting a simple with for a Happy Birthday instead.

"The cracks were beginning to show on Cara's birthday in August when Annie wasn't there for her party," the source maintained. "Instead she posted a very flat birthday message on Instagram. They decided to call it a day but remain pals and are hoping they can work things out as its no doubt they really love each other."

Neither one has acknowledged their rumored split on social media, but both have been notably absent in posts on each other's feeds, with Delevingne's last post featuring her girlfriend going up over two months ago.

The pair also appeared to enjoy one another's company around the same time at Delevingne's pal Taylor Swift's Fourth of July bash, where Swift posted a photo celebrating her friend Abigail's engagement, as well as anniversary wishes to buddy Ed Sheeran and his girlfriend Cherry (with a banner which read Happy 1st Ed-Iver-Cherry," and wishes to Delevingne and St. Vincent as well, with a banner that read "Happy Annievercarry!"

Swift captioned that photo "Love actually is all around."

Delevingne also gushed about her girlfriend in an interview with Vogue UK last month, where she said she had never really understood love until she met her.

"I'm completely in love...before, I didn't know what love was-real love," she said at the time. "I didn't understand the depth of it. I always used to think it was you against the world. Now I know the meaning of life is love. Whether that's for yourself or for the world or your partner."

The news of Delevingne and St. Vincent's split also comes not long after engagement rumors swirled about the pair once again. They'd previously been rumored to be taking such a step in their romance by sporting matching rings at a fashion event last year, as well as after a trip to Paris where witnesses claimed that Delevingne proposed to her.

This time, rumors of a potential engagement flew after Delevingne reposted a photo of herself from her press tour that had initially been shared by co-star Jared Leto. In the image, Delevingne sits on a private jet and poses with her left hand in front of her, on which she sports a diamond ring on her finger.

She and St. Vincent have both never addressed any rumors that they were getting engaged on social media or in interviews either.
