Gwyneth Paltrow said in a recent interview that her marriage to Chris Martin is full of problems.

The 40-year old actress was on the cover of Glamour UK' June 2013 issue and in her interview with the magazine she opened up about her nearly 10-year marriage to the Coldplay front man. The couple wed on Dec. 5, 2003 in California, and now have two children: Apple and Moses.

"It's hard being married," she told the magazine. "You go through great times, you go through terrible times. We're the same as any couple."

Paltrow said that she still remembers the advice her father, Bruce Paltrow, gave her about making a strong union. The famed director died in 2002 due to complications from cancer and pneumonia but had been married to Paltrow's mother since December 1969. Gwyneth wanted her relationship to mirror theirs.

"I asked my dad once, 'How did you and Mom stay married for 33 years?'" she said. "And he said, 'Well, we never wanted to get divorced at the same time.'"

Her father's words have stayed with the Iron Man 3 actress.

"I think that's what happens," she said. "When two people throw in the towel at the same time, then you break up, but if one person's saying, 'Come on, we can do this,' you carry on."

Gwyneth met her husband three weeks after her father died. They married the following year and with their first child, they settled into a family life in his native England. She said that the love they had for each other from the start is still there, and that their different personalities work well together.

"We laugh, we're good friends, we like to do the same stuff," she said. "I'm a very grounded, homey person, and Chris is a very mad scientist, genius songwriter," she said.

Paltrow is not one to question her husband, saying she feels no need to.

"So I never say, 'Where are you? You should be home by now," she said. "I never place demands on him because I think he's a really talented man and he's putting something good into the world."
