Bradley Cooper is having a whirlwind year that looks to carry over into 2014 as he is now reportedly attached to Steven Spielberg's American Sniper.

Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook) has rocketed off on a satellite trajectory in the past year, during which time his production company, 22nd & Indiana, optioned the rights to American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History by Navy SEAL Chris Kyle.

The plot follows the career of the talented Kyle as he served in Iraq and later began a security corporation in Texas. However, questions as to the future of the film arose when former solider and alleged PTSD sufferer Eddie Routh killed the 38-year-old on a shooting range, according to the Los Angeles Times.

In spite of the tragedy, The Hollywood Reporter states that the film has been picked up as a Warner Bros./Dream Works co-production with Spielberg taking on directing duties.

Spielberg, who has momentarily shelved the sci-fi flick Robopocalypse, has now filled his schedule with a second history based film closely following last year's Lincoln, reports the Huffington Post.

Cooper, who recently dropped out of the Western Jane Got A Gun, will be attached not only as an actor but also as a producer along with Spielberg, Andrew Lazar (10 Things I Hate About You), and Peter Morgan (Killers), according to the Los Angeles Times. The script will be handled by Jason Hall (Spread).
