Young and the Restless star Jeanne Cooper will not live much longer and is in her "final stages" according to her son. .

Corbin Bernsen has been keeping fans updated on his mother's condition. The 84-year-old actress was hospitalized on April 12 in Los Angeles for an undisclosed illness and was admitted in the ICU. She rebounded a few days later and was released, but was hospitalized again on Wednesday.

Bernsen, the star of USA's Psych, shared her grim prognosis on Friday through a Facebook post. He said that he was on his way to Vancouver to begin taping the new season of his show and thanked fans for helping to make it possible for him to let go.

"know that your kind words and abundance of love for both myself and my mother have helped me through the night and into today - and to some degree - in letting go," he wrote. " 'Let go, let God' my mother often says."

Bernsen said that his faith is also helping him cope.

"Maybe soaring in the clouds this morning will help, I often closer to my faith up there, above the bounds of earth," he wrote. "The funny thing about what's going on with my mom is that, while she is gravely ill, and at an advanced age, and will certainly be less of what "she was," nobody has come out and said flat out that she is eminently terminal."

Bernsen said there was a still a fighter in his mother, but the efforts to keep her alive have taken its toll. Cooper is hooked up to multiple machines.

"Again, metaphorically - the boxer still has fight and a potential to win (for the short term only - his title will certainly be taken away sooner or later), but he's still there sitting in a corner, bloody, unrecognizable, and his will to come out swinging isn't diminished," he shared.  "That is what it's like."

At the end of his post, Bernsen once again took the time to thank the fans. They have encouraged him through prayers and well wishes.

"I can't tell you how much I love you guys for being here for us and your generosity," he declared.
