Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt today, citing irreconcilable differences and seeking physical custody of their six children. The pair first got together in 2004 after meeting on the set of Mr. And Mr.s Smith, and married in 2014.
According to TMZ, which broke the story, says that the decision for the divorce related to how Pitt was parenting their children, and that Jolie was "fed up" with Pitt's consumption of weed and possibly alcohol, as well as what she believes is an "anger problem", and that she felt it was dangerous for the children. In a statement, her attorney has confirmed she made the decision "for the health of the family."

Even if things are over though, there's no question that their romance was one that was marked by some big moments for them. Here's a look back at their romance from the beginning:
Summer 2004: The couple meets on the set of Mr. And Mrs. Smith
January 2005: Brad Pitt and his then-wife Jennifer Aniston announced they were separating after five years of marriage. Aniston filed for divorce a few months later.
April 2005: Rumors of the couple's romance began to reach a peak after photos surfaced of Pitt vacationing with Jolie and her son, Maddox, in Kenya. Jolie denied one month later that anything was happening between her and Pitt when they were off-set because she would have never gotten involved with a married man because it was how her parent's relationship came to an end.
July 2005: Jolie adopts daughter Zahara, then 6 months, from Ethiopia
January 2006: A few months after Pitt's divorce from Aniston is finalized, Jolie confirms she is pregnant and they are expecting their first child together. Maddox and Zahara's last names were also revealed to have been changed to Jolie-Pitt at the time.
May 2006: Jolie gives birth to their daughter, Shiloh Nouvel in Namibia
October 2006: Pitt tells Esquire Magazine that he and Jolie will not marry until "everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able."
March 2007: Jolie adopts son Pax, 3, from Vietnam, as a single parent since she and Pitt are not married. His name is also changed to Jolie-Pitt at a later date.
May 2008: The couple announces they are pregnant again, this time, with twins.
July 2008: Jolie gives birth to Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline in Nice, France
October 2008: Jolie finally confirms that she and Pitt "fell in love" while on the set of Mr. And Mrs. Smith, which reignited hate from fans of Aniston, and led to her addressing it herself later that year, saying it was a "little inappropriate to discuss."
April 2012: After eight years together, news that Pitt and Jolie are engaged is confirmed
August 2014: The couple marries at their French estate Chateau Miraval in Correns, in a private ceremony with their children.
March 2015: Jolie reveals she underwent surgery to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes after doctors detected possible early signs of cancer. Pitt is supportive during this time. It is two years after her decision to have a preventative double masectomy.
November 2015: They make their final red carpet appearance as a couple
