While Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton had been sending mixed messages to anxious fans regarding the sex of her baby over the last few months, Prince Harry revealed this weekend that the royal couple will be having a boy.

Middleton and Prince William have not revealed information about the baby's gender, but the uncle-to-be couldn't contain himself from sharing the news.

"Harry has been telling everyone Wills and Kate are having a boy and how thrilled he is at the prospect of having a little nephew," a source told the Sunday People. "He said the whole family was excited about it. Apparently Kate has always wanted a boy."

Close friends knew that the baby was going to be a boy because the couple had been seen buying gifts with a boy theme, the source added.

In March, the duchess dropped hints that she would be having a girl. When a local presented her with a teddy bear in Grimsby, Middleton thanked the woman and said, "I will take that for my d.." - before she stopped herself.

However, days later Middleton may have indicated the baby could be a boy when talking to a group of Army wives at a reception for St. Patrick's day. She revealed that she had bought a stroller in a light blue color.

Sources claimed that Prince William's cousin, Princess Eugenie, has also been telling friends that Middleton is expecting a boy, according to the publication.

Despite all the rumors, the sex of the baby has not been confirmed by the royal couple.

"Even though there's a lot of gossip doing the rounds, there's no way anyone can confirm it at the moment," said an insider, according to the report. "It's people being mischievous and winding each other up."
