There are new reports of Brad Pitt being under investigation for possible child abuse against one of his and Angelina Jolie's children.

The Los Angeles Police Department and the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services are reportedly investigating allegations of child abuse on the part of Pitt, according to TMZ and People.

Pitt was allegedly "verbally abusive" and "physical" towards one of his kids last Wednesday, which was anonymously reported by a witness. There are reports that Pitt was intoxicated at the time.

A source reportedly close to Pitt told People that he is taking the allegations seriously.

"He takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children," the source stated. "It's unfortunate that people involved are continuing to present him in the worst possible light."

This news comes out mere days after it was announced that Jolie was divorcing Pitt. Plenty of scandalous developments have come out since, including allegations of Pitt having an affair with his Allied co-star Marion Cotillard.

Cotillard has since responded to these claims via an Instagram post:

"This is going to be my first and only reaction to the whirlwind news that broke 24 hours ago and that I was swept up into," she said in the caption of a new photo. "I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously but as this situation is spiraling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up. "Firstly, many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need.

"Secondly to those who have indicated that I am devastated, I am very well thank you. This crafted conversation isn't distressing. And to all the media and the haters who are quick to pass judgment, I sincerely wish you a swift recovery. Finally, I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment."
