After the grand success of "The Angry Birds Movie," the famous mobile game "Fruit Ninja" is reportedly getting the big screen treatment soon.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, New Line Cinemas has bought the rights to make a movie out of the slicing game. It was further stated that the plot of the story will revolve around a "team of misfits who are recruited to become Fruit Ninjas in order to save the world."

The Hollywood Reporter also noted that this is going to be the comeback of the well-known producer Tripp Vinson who "has a long history with New Line, having produced such films for the studio as the 'Journey to the Center of the Earth' films." Vinson's most current accomplishment as an executive producer with New Line Cinemas is the action blockbuster "San Andreas.

Meanwhile, the duo well-known for the creation of "How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack" along with Robert Zemeckis' ImageMovers and Sony Animation: J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani are reported to write the script for the upcoming movie.

Vinson and Halfbrick Studios are taking charge of developing the live-action family comedy based on this exciting game that revolves around a number of ninjas who slice fruit at rapid speeds. "Fruit Ninja" is currently standing as one of the top ten most downloaded games on the IOS platform, next to "Candy Crush Saga."

Sam White and Tara Farney have reportedly confirmed that they are executive-producing the movie, while Alexis Ehrman is said to be the associate producer. The tentative release date has not yet been specified.

The news of "Fruit Ninja" the movie comes after "The Angry Birds Movie" raked in more than $300 million at the box office, as reported by The Verge. The "Fruit Ninja" movie is expected to overtake that milestone.

The fact that the movie involves ninja characters seems to give it more exciting plot construction and potential than birds accelerating themselves against pigs that are out to steal their eggs. In the "Fruit Ninja" movie, fruits may be used as a symbolic representation of the hidden secrets of the world which may save humankind. This is just a guess, though, since nothing's been said on how the fruits would be incorporated into the movie.
