The upcoming U.S. presidential debate between Democratic standard bearer Hillary Clinton and Republican nominee Donald Trump is set to be a historical argument between political opponents. With the stakes raised high, there is a good chance that the candidates' first debate on Monday would end up dictating the public's opinion on the presidential race as election day draws closer.

The preparations of the two candidates could not be any more different, states CNN, with Hillary Clinton voraciously preparing for the event. According to reports, the Democratic candidate has been on overdrive during the entire weekend, covering her bases and making sure that she is prepared to handle her opponent.

Clinton has a lot to prepare for, considering that she does not really know which Donald Trump would appear on the debate Monday night. After all, over the course of the campaign, Trump has shown two distinct personas, a loud, raging candidate who is fed up with traditional American politics and a more composed businessman who simply wants to change the country for the better.

As it is, Clinton does not know which Trump she would face.

Her opponent, on the other hand, seems to be relying on his wits and his natural charisma to get him through his first one-on-one debate against his political opponent. Trump's aides have stated that the real-estate mogul-turned-presidential candidate is simply going to trust his instincts on Monday's debate.

USA Today states that despite Trump's inexperience in politics, he actually has a very plausible chance of winning the all-important debate. After all, Clinton might have been in public office for decades, but her tenure in the government has been marred by controversy. Thus, there is a lot of areas where Trump could effectively attack his opponent.

Provided that he keeps his head straight and he does not lose his temper during the debate, Republican standard bearer Donald Trump might stand a chance at beating his veteran opponent in the most important debate of the U.S. presidential elections thus far.
