Mark Ballas has moved on to a new chapter in his life, but will he ever return to Dancing With the Stars?

Ballas is not competing on this current season of Dancing With the Stars due to his upcoming stint as Frankie Valli in the Broadway production of Jersey Boys. This is the first time since joining the show in season 5 that he is not part of the Dancing With the Stars pro group, and his lack of presence has definitely been noticed.

Ballas explained his absence in a new interview with Us Weekly, admitting he's happy to move on for now.

"I'm definitely going to miss it, but I'm looking forward to having some time to do something else for a bit," Ballas said.

As for whether he's going to return as a pro, Ballas seemed to be unsure overall. However, he's not ruling out a return.

"I'm not saying I'll never come back. I love the show, I love it." Ballas said. "It's part of my life and I've spent nine years and my whole twenties doing it. But I'm excited for this new chapter. Broadway's always been a dream of mine and my music with Alexander Jean is going really well. I'm getting married this year - it's a lot going on! And I'm excited to see how it all goes."

Plenty of prominent pros have returned to Dancing With the Stars, including three this season. Derek Hough returned after taking a season off, as did Maks Chmerkovskiy and Cheryl Burke, who have been missing from the past few seasons. Ballas has won two Mirrorball trophies in the past, with Kristi Yamaguchi in season 6 and with Shawn Johnson in season 8. He has made it to the finals with his celebrities six times, including last season with Paige VanZant.

Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
