Chris Brown's airplane reportedly had to make an emergency landing on Monday after smoke began to fill the aircraft.

Brown was on board a Gulfstream 3 jet leaving Burbank, Calif., that was headed for Teterboro, NJ, according to TMZ. He was going to attend the MET Gala held in New York but within a few minutes of the flight, smoke began to fill the plane. The pilot turned the private jet around and made an emergency landing at Burbank Airport.

Brown boarded another private jet within an hour but at the point he already missed the MET Gala. However, he did attend the event's after party. Brown made no reference to the matter on his Twitter thus far.

The singer confirmed his break up with Rihanna on May 5, his birthday. He told an Australian radio station that the Diamonds singer would not be helping him celebrate the big day.

"Imma do it solo," he said. "I mean, at the end of the day, shawty doing her own thang, she on the road. It's always gonna be love. I'm a grown man, just gotta fast forward."

Brown also said that he was not ready to marry Rihanna, explaining that she is too young to make the commitment. Rihanna is 25 and Brown just turned 24. Brown offered another reason for their split via Twitter on Monday night.

"Sometime loving someone is too much! So loving from a distance will help everyone grow! Be blessed. Live ya life!" he tweeted.

Brown and Rihanna reunited in January following his assault on her in February 2009. He accepted a plea bargain and was placed on four years probation. In an appearance on 106 & Park in April, Brown said that the domestic abuse courses he had to enroll in made him a better person. He also said that it strengthened his relationship with Rihanna.

"As far as [Rihanna] and I are concerned, she knows my heart and I know her heart. I am not really focused on the negative, everything is positive for me," he said. "I did my 52 weeks of counselling and learned it was absolutely wrong."

During the same interview, he made a now eerie confession of joining the mile high club of people who have sex while on airplanes.

"I was on a commercial flight in first class," Brown said.  "But it was one of them European first classes where you've got the big front so you can put the cover up so nobody won't see nothing."
