In a recent poll titled The 100 Most Trusted People In America, controversial news host Matt Lauer didn't end up faring quite as well as some of the other big names on the list.

Readers Digest put out the celebrity rankings list, which featured household names such as Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock, and Denzel Washington.

Lauer, who is known for his Where in the World Is Matt Lauer? snippets as well as being a host on the TODAY show, ranked at the bottom of the poll for TV news anchors. The most trusted news anchor on the list was actually Robin Roberts of Good Morning America, while Diane Sawyer and Brian Williams finished not too far behind her.

The composition of the poll involved RD partnering up with the Wagner Group in order to reach out to 1,000 individuals across the U.S. The main objective of the survey was to find out which well-known individuals in the country have garnered the American people's approval.

The people surveyed were asked to give their views on a list of "more than 200 American opinion shapers, leaders and headline makers from 15 highly influential professions."

As of late, Lauer has been taking a lot of heat for the firing of former TV host Ann Curry from her post alongside him on TODAY, which reportedly had something to do with his low ranking results.

As of late, there's been chatter over Lauer himself being replaced by TV personality Ryan Seacrest.  The rumors are addressed by the latter in a video below.
