The Surface Pro 5 is arguably one of the most highly-anticipated devices from Microsoft in recent years. After the widespread success of the Surface Pro 4, the release of its successor has become a very hot topic among tech aficionados.

However, as much as recent rumors have pointed to a possible late 2016 release date for the Surface Pro 5, it appears that Microsoft would not be unveiling the latest iteration of its powerful hybrid device anytime soon, after all. If current signs are any indication, it appears like Microsoft might be gearing up for an early 2017 release for the Surface Pro 5 instead.

One of the reasons behind this notion is the fact that the tech giant has been very silent about the Surface Pro 5 so far. Compared to last year, when Microsoft started teasing the Surface Pro 4 as early as September, it seems like the Surface Pro 5 would not be unveiled soon.

Apart from this, there has been no leaks about the device until now. In previous years, leaks about the Surface Pro devices would emerge a few months before the device is officially revealed. This time, however, even insider leaks are completely absent.

What is somewhat remarkable, however, is the fact that Microsoft seems to be gearing up for a Surface launch within 2016 just the same. Considering that the device is not the Surface Pro 5, there is a pretty good chance that the tech giant would be unveiling a brand new Surface device soon.

With this in mind, numerous Surface fans are speculating that Microsoft would soon officially unveil the rumored Surface All-in-One (AiO) PC. Contrary to the Surface Pro 5, a few leaks about the Surface AiO have actually been released, including a Surface-branded keyboard and a Surface Mouse.

If Microsoft is indeed going to release the Surface AiO within the year, the competition among powerful desktops in the market will surely ensue. With Apple allegedly set to unveil the 2016 iMac within the next few weeks, the arrival of the Surface All-in-One will surely make the game a lot more interesting.
