Billy Bush is basically done on Today following his involvement in the 2005 Donald Trump tape, according to sources.

Bush's time as anchor of the third hour of The Today Show is almost definitely over, according to Us Weekly.

"He's definitely gone. A lot of people feel so bad for him. He's a good guy. He made a mistake, but he's a genuinely good guy," a source told the magazine this week. "They don't see any way he can go back on morning TV after this."

Bush was heard talking with Trump in a recently leaked tape from 2005, with the future GOP nominee making sexually aggressive comments about women. Bush mostly played along with Trump's comments, even laughing at his now infamous "grab them by the p---y" line.

"Obviously I'm embarrassed and ashamed," Bush admitted to Us Weekly on Friday. "It's no excuse, but this happened 11 years ago - I was younger, less mature and acted foolishly in playing along. I'm very sorry."

Bush joined Today in late August, after several years as an anchor for Access Hollywood. It remains to be seen where Bush's future career as a television journalist lies, but with him being involved in such a damning scandal, he is already fearing the worst for his career.

"Billy was devastated and crying when the leaked tape of him with Donald Trump in 2005 was first leaked to 'The Washington Post,'" an insider admitted to Us Weekly. "He was crying that his career was over."

Meanwhile, Trump's tape has been a rare sticking point for the GOP candidate, whose various comments in the past have included insulting Mexicans, Muslims, women, John McCain's POW status and more. Trump has seen his poll numbers slip overall, with opponent Hillary Clinton leading in some polls by double digits.
