OnePlus has made a name for itself by being a manufacturer that is capable of creating smartphones that are as powerful as flagships for a fraction of the price. The OnePlus 3 is already the company's most popular device, and the OnePlus 4 is already one of the most hyped devices of 2017.

However, recent speculations point to the OnePlus 4 being released sometime during the second quarter of 2017, in order for the device to enter the market at the perfect time between the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Apple iPhone 8. Apart from this, OnePlus is also allegedly facing an unprecedented problem.

The company is reportedly already running out of OnePlus 3 units to sell. The powerhouse handset, which boasts specs comparable, if not beyond, the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7, has sold so well that the company is finding it hard to meet the demand for the device.

Since the OnePlus 4 is designed to meet the next generation of flagship handsets for 2017, the smartphone maker needs to find a way to create a smartphone that would meet the current demand for its acclaimed smartphone. Thus, speculations about the OnePlus 3 Plus/OnePlus 3S have emerged.

One of the things that have made the production of the OnePlus 3 is allegedly the shortage of AMOLED displays that are used in the unit. As for the rumored OnePlus 3S/Plus, the new smartphone would allegedly be using an IPS LCD panel instead.

While the display of the rumored device might be somewhat inferior to the ones being used in the OnePlus 3, the OnePlus 3S/Plus will allegedly feature updated internals and a bigger screen to offset the price. Thus, despite the lower screen quality, the device would be more capable and larger than the company's current flagship.

Of course, these rumors are to be taken with a grain of salt. However, if they do prove true, the introduction of the OnePlus 3S/Plus will undoubtedly change the phablet game forever.
