Is "Red Dead Redemption 2" finally happening? Here's the real score about the rumored sequel for the original game that was released six years ago.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" remains to be one of the most anticipated game sequels. Fans of "Red Dead Redemption" have been waiting for six years now for a confirmation if its makers are working on a follow-up to the game.

There is good news for these gamers patiently waiting for an update. CEO Strauss Zelnick of Take-Two Interactive said that "Red Dead Redemption" or "RDR" is a permanent franchise for the company. In addition, he verified that the sequel to the game will be made really soon, as per a Game N Guide report.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" will have new and exciting features, which of course will be a step-up from the game originally launched a few years ago. Although the creators of "RDR" have yet to officially confirm the sequel, there are some speculations that it will be released in the early months of 2017.

Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games are not exactly known to say too much about their creations. Therefore, it did not exactly come as a surprise that in the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016, the game producers did not announce anything about "RDR 2." These two companies are in fact notorious for keeping fans in the dark and just surprise them when games are about to be formally released.

However, this does not mean that rumored leaks will not make their way into the news. Aside from the release date speculation, "RDR 2" rumors tackle the updates/upgrades it will have from the original game. One of these rumors assumes that the sequel will have a multiplayer mode, apart from the single player mode found in "RDR."

Another feature the upcoming game will be having, according to rumors, is the addition of new maps, though to be better than the one from the original game. In terms of the setting, new landmarks will be added to the existing ones. Roanoke Valley and Kahuta are two landmarks that will be added to the game. The former will resemble the real valley while the latter will be a replica of a Pakistan city.

These rumors remain as speculations and as such, should be treated with a grain of salt. Stay tuned for more "Red Dead Redemption 2" updates and official announcements in the coming months.
