Fans of Arrow's Stephen Amell are going to be disappointed to hear that the actor won't be in the competition to play Christian Grey in the movie adaptation of 50 Shades of Grey.

According to the 32-year-old's Facebook page, the TV standout will no longer be up for the role when the casting process comes down to the nitty gritty.

"Was on a flight yesterday evening back to LA with no movie, so I grabbed 50 Shades of Grey and burned through it.  Ummm... I hope they get the movie made, and I'm sure someone will be excellent in it.  That person will not be me."

Amell initially had his loyalists jumping for joy when he announced that he had met with the 50 Shades brass.

"I had a meeting with the studio that is doing that movie, and we spoke about it.  I anecdotally brought it up on my Facebook page, which I didn't realize was real news now! I've operated the same way when I had 200 friends, and now I have more than that.   And all of a sudden it was this big news story," he told Jay Leno on March 23.

Screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who is in the midst of penning the movie script, had stated that the flick would be staying true to the book with lots of sex and raunchiness, as the producers are shooting for an NC-17 rating, according to a write-up in Style Magazine.

Although the producers have yet to officially attach a director to the franchise, Fifty Shades of Grey is slated for its big screen release in the summer of 2014.  The film will be shot in London.
