Eric Decker is injured and expected to be out for six to eight weeks due to a much-needed surgery on his shoulder.

Although Decker was previously listed as "questionable" after tearing his rotator cuff, his NFL future is now uncertain and with a necessary surgery hanging over his head, he's been temporarily placed on injury reserve as the New York Jets hunt for a replacement -- starting with wide receiver Quincy Enunwa.

"If the Jets expect to save their season Monday night in Arizona, Quincy Enunwa is going to have to step up," CBS New York reported on Monday. "Losing [Brandon Marshall]’s complement Eric Decker for the season was nothing short of a devastating blow, considering he was Ryan Fitzpatrick’s red zone and third-down go-to guy. It was easy to see how his absence affected the passing game."

Decker was traded to the New York Jets in 2014 after spending a couple of seasons catching passes from football great Peyton Manning.

As the outlet pointed out, a Decker return has seemed possible at times, despite his rotator cuff injury, but on Wednesday, the hope was taken away when he went on season-ending injured reserve.

"So now most of the pressure of replacing Decker falls on the third-year pro Enunwa and, of course, offensive coordinator Chan Gailey. And, to an extent, rookies like Jalin Marshall, Robby Anderson, and Charone Peake," the outlet continued.

According to the report, the Cardinals are expected to double up on Marshall, so creating a succcessful passing game is quite neccesary if they are going to come away with a win later tonight.

The New York Jets take on the Arizona Cardinals tonight during Monday Night Football starting at 8:30 p.m.
