The 2017 nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have been unveiled, with a breadth of strong musical acts to choose from.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame released its list of 19 nominees for possible induction in 2017. The list includes classic rock legends like Electric Light Orchestra, Depeche Mode, Jane's Addiction, Pearl Jam and Journey as well as crossover artists from the worlds of disco, R&B and rap, like Chaka Khan, Chic, Janet Jackson and Tupac Shakur.

The five nominees for 2017 will be decided by over 800 music professionals and experts. Additionally, fans can vote on their five favorite artists from the lineup at rockhall.com, with the top five vote-getters from the public counting as one official ballot.

The inductees for 2017 will be unveiled in December, with the ceremony being held in April at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Artists are eligible for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame consideration a full 25 years after their debut record. 2016 inductees included Cheap Trick, Chicago, Deep Purple, N.W.A and Steve Miller. Last year's inductees were The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Lou Reeds, Green Day, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble and Bill Withers.
